In order to make sure I have access to my files and programs on the road I set up VNC on my office MacPro. This is all built in to the MacOS (and Win XP and 7 I believe) but not into the iPad. After much deliberation I purchased iTeleport for $24.99. Wow! Very cool. It takes a bit of getting used to because your finger is working like a mouse rather than as in the iOS, but once I got the hang of it I was happily checking out Ruth on Accordance. UPDATE: There is a preference for touch mode, so clearly I have a lot more playing to do!
Believe it or not, that is Accordance on an iPad!
(I was using it in landscape mode, hence the sideways screenshot.)

Very cool. I have a similar setup using LogMeIn for the iPad.
I decided on this app since it doesn’t require that I set up am account with them or put a thing on the Mac. (You can do that as well, but I prefer to use the direct, manual set up.) I realize I am late to this game, still very nice to have it!
OK, but I still don’t see how Teleport enables you to see Accordance on your iPad. What am I missing?
Will
iTeleport allows me to see what is running on my office machine. Accordance is running on THAT machine and I can manipulate it and see it on the iPad. I can’t copy and paste (at least I don’t think so, haven’t tried it) but I can see the material and get the information that I need.
[...] iTeleport – This is the most expensive app on my list at $24.99 and I delayed getting it for that reason but the moment you need access to your desktop it immediately becomes worth it. This is a VNC client that allows you to actually view and control your desktop from your iPad or iPhone. This means that you can access any application that can only run on your desktop and effectively use it on your iDevice. I have also frequently used it to move files that were not in my Dropbox over to the Dropbox so that I might then have access to them. (You know the scenario, you save something to your desktop rather than into a work folder and forget to move it once you have finished.) You can read how I have used it to access Accordance, an extremely powerful desktop software for biblical resources here. [...]
