There isn’t much more to say. It is so bad it is…bad.

I remember watching it when I was ten years old. To my young, Star Wars obsessed brain, it was the most entertaining Christmas special ever. We even got to see Boba Fett, a new character they were introducing in the next movie (I had already bought the special action figure).
As an adult, I heard people talking about how bad it was. George Lucas even refuses to acknowledge it! So, I found a copy of it on the Internet and downloaded it. Oh, the horror! There are no words in the English language that can describe how incredibly bad it is. Mark Hamill had just had his car accident and looks terrible. The scenes with Chewbacca’s family are hokey. And it is a toss up which is worse: Carrie Fischer’s voice or the words to the song she sings about “Life Day.”
The only remotely redeeming quality is some of the other actors in it. After all, where else do you get to see Bea Arthur, Art Carney, Diahann Carroll, and Harvey Korman in a Star Wars film?
It’s a thing of… of… well, it’s a thing, all right.
