I hope it goes without saying that our thoughts and prayers go out to the VaTech family, that includes many from our own region and even Penn State. Dr. Spanier released a notice about our own safety procedures on the NewsWire. On Monday afternoon he also released this statement:
“All of us at Penn State are deeply saddened by the terrible tragedy that occurred today at Virginia Tech. Our thoughts and prayers are with those in Blacksburg, and we stand ready to help in any way that we can.
“We like to think of college campuses as being refuges from the violence that can plague society, but today’s events are a reminder that no one place is immune. On this very sad day, we send our sympathy and condolences to those affected by this senseless tragedy.”
— Graham B. Spanier
This weekend is the annual Blue-White football scrimmage here at PSU. But there is an honorable movement among Penn State students on Facebook. They are calling for Penn State fans to wear Maroon and Orange in memory of those slain at VaTech. So if you will be here this weekend let’s make it a Hokie day.
