Reading books on the go

Yesterday I picked a new Blackberry. My old 8810 had bit the dust one too many times and the mic no longer worked. That was fine for those who wanted to give me a telling to without hearing me respond, but a challenge for actually accomplishing two-way communication. So I went down one step to the Curve, in red. It actually has all my old model had, plus a camera (with a flash!) and spell […]

If it’s not Utilikilts its…

If you haven’t seen Utilitkilts you must take a look. They are kilts, natch, in various utilitarian builds. But best of all are their new “mockumercials,” user created commercials. Check out the Round 2-1st place winner, “If it’s not Utilikilts its…” THEN, you need to check out the next two, “Call Me” and “Don’t Ask.” They say the creator’s name is “Doug Cox” but we know him as Dr. Jim West!

Wii got it!

(Thanks to Matt for the better blog post title). My in-laws are in town this weekend for an early Christmas and came bearing not just gifts but THE gift. A Wii. My daughter, as you can see, is a bit excited. And so am I. 🙂 Bowling is quite fun, but I found it tough to hit the baseball. Clearly I need more practice. So, if you don’t hear from me for a while, you […]

New Toy: Sony Alpha

I am sorry I have not written many posts lately. This weekend, in addition to being the first home football game at PSU (we beat FIU 59-0) my folks came up for an early birthday dinner. The official day is next Sunday, when we will all be watching PSU beat Notre Dame! Since my folks came early, we opened my present from them: a Sony Alpha A100. That is a 10.2 digital SLR. I was/am/will […]

Apple: It’s the Little Things

Did you know – that if your headset comes out of your iPod the iPod will stop playing? I was painting Izzy’s room tonight, listening to MacBreak Weekly and TWiT, when the earbuds snagged on something. Out it popped. When I plugged in I realized that the iPod had stopped automatically and I was able to pick up the podcast where I had left off so abruptly. Nice.

My daughter has a DS as well… Hmmmm. Perhaps a weekend project! 🙂 iPodDS This is pretty sweet for all you home brew fans out there. This guy made his Nintendo DS function like an iPod, using the lower (touch) screen as the click wheel. Not overly useful – unless you have a DS and not an iPod – but pretty cool anyway. My Son’s got a DS, but I think if I started messing […]

Muslim community offended by Apple’s Fifth Avenue NYC Cube

Having just made my first pilgrimage to the Cube on Monday I find this story very interesting…. This is from The Unofficial Apple Weblog so please note that I am not the author what is linked (although I agree with everything she said). (Via The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW).)
