Why do I like these funky pictures?

Most of you know that I love photography. There is an old saying that the best camera is the one you have with you and my iPhone is constantly with me. And I have to say that the iPhone 4 has a pretty decent 5MP camera. It is not great, but I have gotten some pretty nice results. There is a little app that is all the rage called Instagram which basically makes your nice iPhone images look like they are old and worn. The reason I use the app is that it allows you to upload the images to several social networking sites at once, flickr, facebook, twitter, all the usual lowercase culprits. What is odd is that the image effects are growing on me. Take a look at a few and let me know what you think.

Spring

…is almost here. We spent this weekend outside working in the yard. Well, ok. My wife spent the weekend working in the yard. We have a handful of crocuses (croci?) and the wisteria will be blooming in a week, barring more snow.

UPDATE: I have uploaded a set of photos from the levee at flickr.

All 657 of ‘em! I have not had time to weed them out, but you can see all the pictures I took in New Orleans at this link: Dropbox gallery. You may use them if:

  1. You are a member of the PLA
  2. Or you ask my permission.
Enjoy!

Photos from New Orleans

Yesterday (Thursday) was our first full day in NOLA and we spent most of it on Tulane’s campus. We had a group of excellent presenters including one surprise, a former Tulane honors student! Chris Meyer, Special Advisor to the Superintendent Louisiana Department of Education, spoke to us about the development of charter schools in New Orleans. Not a topic without controversy, but very well presented and it is exciting to see so much energy being put into primary education in Louisiana.

Waiting for the streetcar to take us Uptown.
