Yesterday we went on a photo walk at the Penn State Arboretum. Most of the shots were by my daughter for her 4-H project and so haven’t been uploaded, but I put a few up on flickr. I am curious, does anyone recognize these flowers?

Chris,
I worked as a gardener for a seed company trial garden during my undergraduate days — I think these flowers may be a beautiful thistle variety known as ‘Echinops banaticus’ – if that is correct, they are also known by their common name varieties – a few that I remember are “Blue Glow” thistle, “Star Frost” thistle or “Great Globe” thistle.
