Photo: Beautiful Weekend

Unfortunately I spent most of it inside, cleaning up and painting our basement. Oh and watching the Olympics. The Men 4×100 Free Relay was amazing! As my brother said, it is nice to see the French fighting for something, but even better for us to win. Great race, especially Lezak!

The weather here was wonderful, cool breeze with warm sunshine. The sun on the thistle down was beautiful and we played soccer with the kids outside.

Thistles by you.

Photo: Library Dedication- Library of Congress Flickr feed

I think I mentioned this before, but if you enjoy vintage photos and some real “living history” please take a look at the Library of Congress’s Flickr feed. They have photos from the 1910s and the 30s and 40s. The images of everyday people are amazing. I believe this is the cornerstone laying for Columbia University’s Butler Library. (A 1911 photo of my alma mater’s crew team can be found here.)

The Vespa!

The Vespa LX50, Gap version has arrived! I went to pick it up today (and pay tax, tags, registration, assembly fee…a free prize is never free, oh and insurance) and rode it home! In the rain. It is only 49cc and barely made 25 mph uphill, but screamed to 45 mph downhill. The worst wasn’t the rain but the backsplash from the cars in front. Now, for a few pictures. Click on them for bigger images at Flickr.
Scooter 2
The scooter itself. Note the Gap stripe motif. You will recall that we won this in a Yahoo!/Gap competition this past Christmas.
Seat up - Checking helmet compartment
The seat flips up to store the helmet and various other items. But NOT pets! You have been warned:
Warning! No Pets!
And finally, the rebel without a clue and his girl.
Born to be wild!

New Banners

What do you think of the new banner images? I have taken some of my favorite shots and made them into banners, rotating the images each time the page is refreshed. The images are all mine and most can be seen at my Flickr account. Feel free to look through them and comment there a well. If you would like to use any, simply drop me a note.

So, which one do you like the best?

PS – The Schreyer Honors College website has been completely revamped. Please check it out!

Schmap Travel Guides

Flickr is amazing. This company, Schmap, found my pictures from Oxford that I took last summer and asked if they could use one for their online (free) travel guide. I was happy to allow them to do so! You can go directly to the entry with my photo of Mansfield College (btw, not the best that I took, the inside of their library is gorgeous) right here.

Their widget is below, as is one of my pics from the Mansfield College Library.
