AT&T MicroCell? Gone…

UPDATE: The site is up! AT&T 3G MicroCell It is just not available in my area yet.

Over the last few moths I had heard about AT&T’s rolling out a new “MicroCell” that would allow you to plug the device into your own high speed connection to create a micro cell. Given that we do not get very good reception anywhere inside our house, this would be ideal. Trouble is, while there are various references and queries about it all over the ‘nets the one link I found to the AT&T site is dead (or locked down) and a search of their site reveals nothing.

Was it too much to hope for?

“You may say that I’m a dreamer”

Imagine… or “Why can’t we all just get along?”

I think I will use this line in our next faculty senate committee meeting.

Snow Leopard – It’s the little things

This afternoon I installed Mac OS X 10.6, otherwise known as Snow Leopard. So far it is going very well. A few minor conflicts (Logitech’s Control Center, Nambu [twitter client]) but Exchange on Mail/iCal/Address Book is very nice. But it is the little things that are nice, such as my MacBook Pro being able to update the time zone automatically. (Cell phones have been able to do it for ages, why not notebooks?)

Snow Leopard and Nisus Writer Pro

I am sitting in my office eagerly awaiting delivery of my copy of Snow Leopard. I am most excited about trying Exchange in the newish OS, but I have been a little trepidatious about conflicts. There is a site, http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/, that offers a rundown of known conflicts. This morning I received the newsletter from Nisus with the content below. If you are a user of their fantastic NWP please read and be sure to download their beta. (more…)

Overheard on NPR

NPR was reporting the plans for the memorial service for Ted Kennedy and said that “all former living presidents” would attend. Shouldn’t that be “all living former presidents”? Or is this the rise of the zombies?
