First Day of School 2013

First Day School 2012

I would be lying if I said it wasn’t hard to see all the elementary school kids, Mack’s classmates, get on the bus for the new year without him. It is hard to see all the pictures on Facebook that our friends are posting of their kids and grandkids getting on the bus. But today really isn’t any worse than yesterday or the day before that. He is gone and we cannot change that. It hurts just as much.

But we won’t be the sort of folks who post in the comments, “Enjoy them while you have them with you!” Or “It must be nice… ;-(” I am “liking” every post I see of my friend’s children heading to school this morning. We are happy for them and their families and we want to take none of the joy away from their day.

Of course we are also so excited for our daughter beginning school today as well. She is wonderful and deserves all our love and joy. (Some of that will depend upon how well her driving lesson go, however…)

We remember and celebrate the silly boy and are so thankful for the beautiful young woman. And we celebrate your children too, wishing everyone a wonderful first day of school.
