Politics St. Obama by Christian Brady|Published March 7, 2009|1 comment First it was the halo effect of the news photo (intentional or accidental?) now St. Obama has his own votive candles. An image of U.S. President Barack Obama depicted as a saint is seen on 10-inch-tall votive candles displayed at the "Just For Fun" store March 2 in San Francisco. The candles, created by Johnny Oliver, angered members of the St. Philip the Apostle Church who saw them as mocking Christ. The store "Just For Fun" had sold over 1,000 of the votives at $12.95 each but had yet to sell one of the two-foot-tall candles, which go for $395. For years I’ve been trying to get C. S. Lewis and Billy Graham candles for an altar to Evangelicalism. Maybe there’s still hope!
